"Yellow"
by Coldplay
from Parachutes, 2000

transcribed Feb 3, 2001 by Laura McWilliams
updated Mar 24, 2001
-I added a bunch of other versions that people had sent me, so there
are quite a few different ways to play it.

=======================================================================
NOTES:
the chords that were already up for this song were all right, but i
don't think that is the way they actually play it.
I've split it into 3 guitar parts, but it could easily be played with
just 2.
=======================================================================

TUNE DOWN 1/2 STEP!!!
(note: although guitar parts 2 and 3 could be played with standard
tuning, all tab in this file assumes tuned down 1/2 step)

=======================================================================
GUITAR 1
(plays rhythm only)
strum chords throughout

INTRO:
B.. Bsus4	B.. Bsus4

INSTR part
B	F#/D#	G#m

VERSE:
B	F#/D#	G#m	B
B	F#/D#	G#m	B.. Bsus4

CHORUS:
"you're skin..."
(no guitar during this part, but here is something you can play
if you don't have a keyboard:)
      G#m          B            F#                     (repeat)
d#:---0-0-0------------------|--3-3-3-----0-0-0------|
A#:---1-1-1-----0-ho-2-------|--3-3-3-----0-0-0------|
F#:*--2-2-2-----0----0-------|--0-0-0-----0-0-0-----*|
C#:*--2-2-2-----2----2-------|--0-0-0-----0-0-0-----*|
G#:---0-0-0-----3----3-------|--2-2-2----------------|
D#:--------------------------|--3-3-3----------------|

it sounds ok.

END:
B	A	B(arpeggiated)    (let sustain)
                d#:--------------|
                A#:----------1---|
                F#:-------0------|
		C#:----2---------|
		G#:--3-----------|
		D#:--------------|

the chords for guit1:
	d#A#F#C#G#D#
B	x 3 2 0 1 0
Bsus4	x 3 3 0 1 1
F#/D#	3 2 0 0 0 0
G#m	x 0 2 2 1 0
F#	3 2 0 0 3 3
A	x 1 3 3 3 1 (barre at 1st fret)

=========================================================================
GUITAR 2
(plays higher pitched chords over top of main rhythm)

INTRO:
rest

INSTR:
B.. (play once, then sort of tap lightly twice)

VERSE:
(play lightly each chord once and allow to sustain)
B	G#	E7	B
B	G#	E7	B..Bsus4

during all parts where guit3 plays lead, guitar 2 wails on chords in
same pattern as verse.

the chords for guit2:
	d# A# F# C# G# D#
B	8  10 10  9 8  8  (barre 8th fret)
Bsus4	8  10 10 10 8  8	"
G#	10 10 12 12 12 10 (barre 10th fret)
E7	x  8  10  9 10 8  (barre 8th fret)

========================================================================
GUITAR 3
(plays lead over instr part and during last verse)

a note on bends:
parentheses indicate PITCH
bu = bend up
bd = bend down

LEAD:

d#:----------------------------------|---------------------------------|
A#:----------------------------------|-10bu(12)-(12)-(12)-bd10-10-10---|
F#:-10bu(12)-(12)-(12)-bd10-10-10----|---------------------------------|

Song: "Yellow"
Artist: Coldplay
Album: Parachutes, 2000

transcribed March 19, 2001 by Christophe Girard

Here is another transcription of "Yellow" by Coldplay.
In this transcription, I used special chords to mix
the rythmic and solo guitar parts. It sounds better
when played alone...
Also, I didn't tune down half a step. But David
electric guitar's transcription, once transposed,
should stick to these chords...
