Welcome to the exciting world of the PC music scene! Thousands of musicians
from around the world harness the power of their PC to create new tunes every
day. These musicians create these songs on their computers and save them as
a music module. These music modules come in many different formats, such as
.IT, .S3M, .XM, .MOD, .669, .FAR, etc.
The Hornet MODS Volume 1 CDROM contains 1,669 songs, 80 music disks, 36 utilities, and 15 files related to music competitions. All of these files were cataloged on the Hornet Archive (hornet.org) between the dates of: Jan 27 (04:07:42) and May 27 (22:41:10) GMT. We built this CDROM to run smoothly under MSDOS, Windows 95/NT, Linux, and FreeBSD, and we have tried to include players for as many different formats as possible. For MSDOS users we included Cubic Player, the most widely used player in the scene today. Cubic Player is the default player used with our DOS "view.exe" program. For Win95/NT users we included two great players on this CDROM: Midas 95 (.MOD, .S3M, and .XM support), and Mikit (.IT support). These two programs are the default players used with our Windows "w32view.exe" interface. For FreeBSD/Linux users we included mikit (for .IT's) and mikmod (for .MOD, .MTM, .S3M, .UTL, and .XM). We included our View and WinView browsers with their streamlined interfaces to extract the files on the CDROM for you. While some of the "music disks" come with their own custom players, you can use our View and WinView browsers to play many of the songs directly. If you have a favorite web browser, we have included HTML pages on the CDROM too! |
