Chapter 4. EFFECT MODE
This chapter explains connections, reverb, chorus, and variation.
In Effect mode, you can select the effects used in a song and modify effect settings.

About effect mode

[EFFECT] Effect mode
[F1] Connection
[F2] Reverb edit
[F3] Chorus edit
[F4] Variation edit

[Explanation]
In Effect mode, you can select the effects used in a song and modify effect settings.
Effect mode does not have a "top" page which always appears first when you press the MODE key. (The previously-selected page will appear.)
Effect mode has four sub-mode pages, and these are selected by the [F1] to [F4] function keys.
Pressing [F1] (Connect) accesses the Connection page.
Here you can select the Reverb Type, and make reverb parameter settings. (-> p.193)
Pressing [F3] (Chorus) accesses the Chorus Edit page.
Here you can select the Chorus Type, and make chorus parameter settings. (-> p.193)
Pressing [F4] (Vari.) accesses the Variation Edit page.
Here you can select the Variation Type, and make variation parameter settings. (-> p.193)

[Supplementary comments]
The structure of the QY700's effects is greatly dependent on the Variation Mode setting of the Connection page.
If exclusive messages such as "GM Mode On" or "XG System On" that make effect settings are included in a song, settings made in Effect mode or by control changes will be ignored.
If you want the settings of Effect mode to be reflected in the data, highlight XG Header in the Save page of Disk mode Here you can specify the connection mode, the Effect Type when saving the song to a Standard MIDI File etc. (-> p.307)
for each effect, and the return levels etc. (-> p.190) . For details on Variation mode and effect structure, refer to Pressing 2 (Reverb) accesses the Reverb Edit page. "Chapter 1. BASIC CONCEPTS" (-> p.47).

[Explanation]
In the Connection page you can make settings such as the Variation Mode, the effect type for each effect, and return levels.
For details on how the effects work, refer to "Chapter 1. BASIC CONCEPTS" (-> p.47).

[Procedure]
1. Press [EFFECT].
The indicator located above will light, and one of the four sub-modes of Effect mode (the last-selected submode) will appear.
2. Press [F1] (Connect) to access the Connection page.
3. Move the cursor to the parameter that you wish to set.
4. Use [Decrement] key/[Increment] key, the data dial, or numeric keypad -> [ENTER] to specify the value.

[Supplementary comments]
In Effect mode, keys such as [Play], [Stop], [Top], and [Rewind]/[Forward] will function in the same way as in Song Play. Using these keys, you can modify settings in realtime while you listen to the playback.

1. Data display
[Explanation]
This displays the settings of the parameter where the cursor is located.
2. Variation mode
This parameter lets you specify whether the Variation effect will function as an Insertion effect or as a System effect. (-> p.48)
If the Variation effect is used as an insertion effect, it can be used only by one specific part. In this case, a modulation wheel or foot controller can be used to control specified parameters.
If the Variation effect is used as a system effect, it can be used by all parts in the same way as the Reverb and Chorus effects, with adjustable Send Level and Return Level. In this case, it will not be possible to use controllers to control specific parameters.

Insertion, System
Insertion The Variation effect will function as an insertion effect.
System The Variation effect will function as a system effect.

3. Reverb type
[Explanation]
This sets the effect type of the reverb.
[Setting values]
NO EFFECT, HALL 1, HALL 2, ROOM 1, ROOM 2, ROOM 3, STAGE 1, STAGE 2, PLATE, WHITE ROOM, TUNNEL, BASEMENT

the overall reverb effect for all parts.
[Setting values]
000 to 127

5. Reverb pan
[Explanation]
This sets the stereo location of the signal from the reverb effect (the processed sound).
[Setting values]
Left63 to Center to Right63
Left settings move the sound toward the left of the stereo image, and Right settings toward the right. A setting of Center places the sound in the center.

6. Chorus type
[Explanation]
This sets the effect type of the chorus.
[Setting values]
NO EFFECT, CHORUS 1, CHORUS 2, CHORUS 3, CHORUS 4, CELESTE 1, CELESTE 2, CELESTE 3, CELESTE 4, FLANGER 1, FLANGER 2, FLANGER 3

11. Variation return (Available only if variation mode equal System)
[Explanation]
This sets the amount that is returned from the variation, adjusting the overall variation effect for all parts.
[Setting values]
000 to 127

12. Variation pan
[Explanation]
(Available only if variation mode equal System)
This sets the stereo location of the signal from the variation effect (the processed sound).
