I'm interested (for study) in everything concerning
--->voice pitch detection for MIDI control<---
such as MIDI-microphones, voice-to-MIDI boxes, ...
and expecially software that could do this (in real time ?)
on a Mac with A/D IN and a MIDI interface.
Does anybody know anything about this?
Thanks!

I have done a bit of work with the IVL Pitchrider. This is a monophonic
pitch to midi converter. For thepast few years this has been the
affordable alternative. Does information on this tool interest you?

Yes, I'm interested! Not only in tech info about the IVL Pitchrider
(I didn't know that it exists... I knew about various Roland ...)
but also if it is of any use with human voice and other characteristics.
Re-thanks

Please

I have never tried any careful experiments with the IVL. However, I
have performed a number of pieces with soprano sax and the IVL. It
sends note on, velocity and maps volume to one of 4 controllers.
If you use it with the foot pedal (theirs), it harmonizes, sends
program changes. It is a one rack space unit.

It was the only thing that I could find in the $600 range. This was
4 years ago, so I don't know what it would cost now.

IVL is located in Victoria, British Colombia, Canada. I'm not sure
where I have their address. They were still in buisness as of spring
'92.

The model I refer to is the Model 4000 Mark II Pitch MIDI Interface.

What can you tell me about the rolands. Also could you please forward
me any information you get on machines for under $1000.

Thank you very much,
Neil

Voice-to-MIDI: The Roland Voice Processor VP-70 has been on the market for
several years now. It is a "chorus-harmonizer" instrument that has a MID input
as well as a voice-to-MIDI note convertor. It works well, expect you have to
keep the loudness of your voice above a certain threshold to trigger the pitch
detector.

What is the suggested retail price of this thing? Is it larger or
heavier than a metal 1 rack space unit?

Thanks
