hello!
I am a spanish guitar player and it is the first time I send a message
in this list. Please excuse me if I have mistakes in my english.
I am looking for a effects unit for my guitar. I tested a few of them
but I am not able to know wich is better. I play all kind of music, and
I need a versatil unit that respect the original sound of my Stratocaster
(really I have a FERNANDES R-8 guitar,but is like a Fender Stratocaster)
Can anyone please help me?
Now I have a little zoom 9002 for effects control unit.
Another question: I have a lot of problems because tunning the guitar.
After playing a few minutes, some of the strings go out of tune. This happens
almost always when I play outside, not very often in a room.
Thank you very much

Hola Amigo
The Alesis QuadraVerb units are excellent multi-effect processors for delay,
reverb, chorus, etc. The QuadraVerb GT also has distortion and compression and
other cool stuff in it. These are rack mounted effects - about $200 to $400
U.S. There are many others to choose from. Your Zoom should do fine for
effects if you have a good amp to play through. You should get a very clean
and clear sound from the amp without the effects. Then, with the Zoom between
the guitar and amp, you should be getting great sounds.
If your guitar goes out of tune often, I would have the inotation checked by an
experienced repair or service shop - $25 U.S.
Also, change the strings regularly, when the coating seems to wear out and they
don't sound bright anymore - $4 U.S. A locking tremolo bar is also a
possiblity if you want to keep your Fernandez - $100 to $200. Otherwise,
buying another guitar with a locking tremolo already on it could be fairly
cheap.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you need more advice.

Que tal, hombre,
> I am a spanish guitar player
I assume that you mean to say you're a guitar player who is Spanish and
not that you play spanish guitar. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I know some guitar players who reccommend the Digitech Legend 21. Which
is better depends upon which unit has the features you need (or desire),
sounds good to your ears, and is affordable to your financial situation.
Your application is an important factor. Do you need foot pedals to
change patches during a gig or are you a studio animal who can allow MIDI
from your sequencer to control patch changes?

Outside, you are in an unconrolled environment where the air is cooling
your strings, causing them to go sharp, and your fingers are warming them,
causing them to go flat. Of course, in the summer, hot air and direct
sun light make your strings go flatter faster. Do you stretch your
strings when you put them on?
